Frontal Cortex
Frontal Lobe
Controls planning, decision-making, impulse control, and personality. Home to the motor cortex.
Sensory Integration
Parietal Lobe
Processes touch, pressure, temperature, pain, and spatial awareness. Your brain's GPS system.
Visual Processing
Occipital Lobe
Interprets visual signals from the eyes: color, shape, motion, and object recognition.
Memory & Language
Temporal Lobe
Handles hearing, language comprehension (Wernicke's area), face recognition, and long-term memory.
Motor Coordination
Cerebellum
Coordinates smooth, precise movement and balance. Stores procedural memories like riding a bike.
Autonomic Control
Brainstem
Regulates heartbeat, breathing, sleep cycles, and reflex actions. The brain's life-support system.
Voluntary Movement
Motor Cortex
Initiates and controls voluntary muscle movements, from fine finger dexterity to large body movements.
Tactile Input
Somatosensory Cortex
Decodes somatic sensory signals from the skin: touch, texture, temperature, and pain localization.
Commissural Fibres
Corpus Callosum
The bridge of 200 million fibres linking the hemispheres. Its rear end, the splenium, is marked on the cut face of the model.
